SME Careers is seeking a Social Media Expert for an hourly, remote contractor role. As a social-media subject matter expert, this person will review AI-generated social content and strategy and may create specialist social-media material. The role involves evaluating reasoning, audience fit and creative decisions, giving precise written feedback, checking clarity, brand voice, platform fit and prompt adherence, verifying claims where required, writing reference-quality posts and explanations, and comparing responses for effectiveness, correctness and reasoning quality.

There is no immediate project for this role. Qualified professionals may be among the first experts contacted when relevant opportunities arise and can gain access to future projects through the expert network.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify problems in messaging, hooks, structure, calls to action, compliance or claims risk and community-safety considerations.
• Create detailed prompts and reference-quality posts, threads, scripts, content calendars and strategy notes.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve engagement, clarity, platform fit and brand alignment.
• Test outputs for inaccuracies, unsafe or misleading claims, policy risks and bias across different uses.

Your Profile

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience managing social media for brands in-house or at an agency, including content creation and performance reporting.
• Strong understanding of relevant mechanics and practices across Instagram, TikTok, X or Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts and Facebook.
• Proven ability to create platform-native hooks, pacing, captions, calls to action and concise stories matched to audience intent.
• Experience with content calendars, creative briefs, approval workflows and collaboration with design and video teams.
• Ability to assess misleading claims, policy violations, brand safety and the handling of sensitive topics.
• Strong analytical instincts for interpreting reach, watch time, CTR, saves and shares, CAC and ROAS fundamentals, and turning performance signals into iteration plans.
• At least C1 English proficiency with excellent written communication and editing skills.
• Reliability, self-direction and consistent delivery in an hourly remote workflow across time zones.
• Experience with AI data training or annotation, editorial quality assurance or content-review workflows is strongly preferred.
