Job Summary

SME Careers is seeking a Copywriting and Content Subject Matter Expert for an hourly, remote contractor role. The expert will review AI-generated marketing and content-writing material, create professional copy when required, evaluate alignment with intent and the reasoning behind writing decisions, and provide precise written feedback. The work includes checking accuracy, clarity, brand fit, tone, and prompt adherence; identifying problems in logic, messaging, audience targeting, claims, compliance risk, structure, and style; verifying statements where needed; creating model outputs that demonstrate strong copywriting technique; and comparing responses for effectiveness, correctness, and reasoning quality.

The expert’s work will help make AI-generated writing more persuasive, accurate, consistent with brand, and clearly explained.

Important

There is no immediate project for this role; however, qualified experts may be among the first people contacted when relevant opportunities arise and can gain access to future projects through the expert network.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed prompts and gold-standard copy or content across multiple formats and industries for AI training.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve clarity, persuasion, tone matching, and factual reliability.
• Test outputs for inaccuracies, invented claims, bias, unsafe advice, and brand risk, and assess reliability across use cases.

Your Profile

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in copywriting, content writing, editorial work, content marketing, or brand storytelling.
• Strong command of brand voice, tone adaptation, and audience-aware writing in business-to-business and/or business-to-consumer settings.
• Ability to improve clarity, structure, persuasion, and consistency in headlines, calls to action, and narrative flow.
• Demonstrated ability to detect and correct factual errors, weak reasoning, exaggerated claims, and potential compliance problems, especially in regulated fields.
• Familiarity with landing pages, email campaigns, blog posts, advertisements, social posts, product copy, scripts, and long-form guides.
• Ability to provide specific, actionable feedback and explain the rationale for gold-standard rewrites, with at least C1 English proficiency.
• A reliable, self-directed approach and the ability to maintain consistent quality across time zones in an hourly remote-contractor workflow.
• AI data training or annotation, content quality assurance, editorial operations, or style-guide governance is strongly preferred.
