SME Careers is looking for an SEO & Digital Marketing Expert to work as a subject matter expert in an hourly, remote contractor role. The expert will review AI-generated search and marketing outputs and may create specialist digital-marketing content. The work involves judging reasoning and strategic fit, providing precise written feedback, checking accuracy, clarity, brand fit and prompt adherence, verifying claims when needed, preparing model explanations and outputs, and comparing AI responses for effectiveness and reasoning quality.

This role will help make AI-produced growth strategy, search optimisation and marketing writing more accurate, dependable and clear.

There is no immediate project for this role. Qualified professionals may be among the first experts contacted when appropriate opportunities arise and can access future work through the expert network.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify issues with search-intent alignment, keyword strategy, on-page and technical SEO logic, content structure, measurement and attribution, and the risk associated with compliance or marketing claims.
• Create detailed prompts and reference-quality content briefs, strategy notes, optimisation recommendations and analyses.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve intent matching, correctness, clarity and practical use.
• Test outputs for inaccuracies, brand-risk claims, policy or compliance problems and bias across different use cases.

Your Profile

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, Business, Journalism or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in SEO or digital marketing in-house, at an agency or as a consultant.
• Strong command of keyword research, intent mapping, information architecture, internal linking, content briefs and SERP analysis.
• Working knowledge of crawlability and indexation, canonicalisation, redirects, sitemaps, Core Web Vitals fundamentals and schema.
• Strong measurement instincts involving GA4, Search Console, dashboards, experimental design and attribution limitations.
• Ability to judge writing and strategy for clarity, structure, persuasion and brand voice, including landing pages and search-focused blog content.
• Exceptional attention to weak reasoning, overclaims, fabricated facts and risky marketing claims, with at least C1 English proficiency.
• Reliability, self-direction and consistent performance in an hourly, remote contractor workflow across time zones.
• Experience with AI data training or annotation, editorial quality assurance, content operations or performance-marketing review is strongly preferred.
