Job Summary

SME Careers is looking for a Market Research Expert to serve as a subject matter expert in an hourly, remote contractor role. The work involves reviewing AI-generated market-research outputs and may include creating expert research deliverables. The expert will evaluate analytical reasoning, provide precise written feedback, judge accuracy, clarity, methodological quality and prompt adherence, check claims and the use of data, write model explanations and deliverables, and compare responses for correctness, usefulness and reasoning quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify weaknesses in research design, sampling logic, survey construction, bias and confounding, competitive analysis, TAM, SAM and SOM sizing, and the synthesis of insights.
• Develop detailed prompts and reference-quality research plans, briefs, survey instruments, insight summaries and competitor scans.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve methodological rigor, clarity and practical usefulness.
• Test outputs for inaccuracies, misleading claims, biased framing and improper use of evidence, and assess reliability across industries and use cases.

Your Profile

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Marketing, Business, Economics, Statistics, Psychology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in market research, consumer insights, strategy or analytics in an agency, consultancy or in-house environment.
• Strong understanding of qualitative and quantitative methods, including interviews, focus groups and surveys; familiarity with conjoint or MaxDiff is optional, along with basic experimental thinking.
• Proven skill in creating and critiquing research instruments, including question wording, scales, leading or loaded questions, survey flow, screening and quality checks.
• Strong ability to turn ambiguous questions into testable hypotheses, research plans and decision-ready conclusions.
• Comfort with market-sizing and forecasting logic, assumptions, triangulation and sensitivity checks.
• Exceptional attention to flawed methods, overconfident conclusions, weak evidence and fabricated data, with at least C1 English proficiency.
• Reliability, self-direction and consistent performance in an hourly, remote contractor workflow across time zones.
• Experience with AI data training or annotation, insight quality assurance, research operations or editorial review is strongly preferred.
