Job Summary

SME Careers is seeking a PR & Communications Expert for an hourly, remote contractor role. Acting as a subject matter expert, this person will review AI-generated public-relations and communications outputs and may create specialist communications content. The work requires evaluating reasoning, message discipline and decision-making, supplying precise written feedback, checking clarity, accuracy, tone, stakeholder fit and prompt adherence, verifying statements when necessary, writing model deliverables with explanations, and comparing responses for effectiveness, correctness and reasoning quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify problems with narrative coherence, positioning, media readiness, reputational risk, claims and compliance, and crisis-response logic.
• Create detailed prompts and reference-quality press releases, statements, media pitches, FAQs and communications plans.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve message discipline, clarity, credibility and fit for the intended stakeholder.
• Test outputs for inaccuracies, reputational risk, bias and unsafe claims across product launches, incident responses and policy changes.

Your Profile

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of professional PR or communications experience in an agency or in-house setting, including writing media-facing material.
• Strong skill in developing narratives, proof points, responses to objections, Q&A or FAQ frameworks and appropriate tone.
• Experience producing press releases, media pitches, bylines, statements, talking points, internal communications and executive notes.
• Ability to assess accuracy, defensibility and risk, including overclaims, legal or compliance sensitivities, forward-looking statements and confidentiality.
• Familiarity with crisis communications, including rapid response, stakeholder mapping, escalation paths, holding statements and post-incident learning.
• Strong editing and quality-assurance skills, with the ability to give specific feedback and create reference rewrites with a rationale; at least C1 English proficiency.
• Reliability, self-direction and consistent delivery in an hourly remote workflow across time zones.
• Experience with AI data training or annotation, editorial quality assurance, newsroom or press-office workflows, or communications review is strongly preferred.
