Job Summary

SME Careers is seeking a Brand and Strategy Subject Matter Expert for an hourly, remote contractor role. The expert will review AI-generated work involving brand strategy, positioning, and go-to-market planning, create professional brand and strategy content when required, assess step-by-step strategic reasoning, and provide precise written feedback. Reviews will cover accuracy, clarity, brand fit, and prompt adherence. The work also involves identifying problems in customer insight, segmentation, messaging hierarchy, positioning logic, differentiation, competitive analysis, and go-to-market planning; verifying claims where needed; producing model deliverables such as positioning statements, messaging frameworks, and briefs that demonstrate sound strategic thinking; and comparing responses for correctness, usefulness, and reasoning quality.

There is no immediate project for this role; however, qualified experts may be among the first people contacted when relevant opportunities arise and can gain access to future projects through the expert network.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed prompts and gold-standard brand and strategy outputs, including briefs, frameworks, messaging, and go-to-market plans, for AI training.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve strategic rigour, clarity, brand alignment, and practical usefulness.
• Test outputs for inaccuracies, invented claims, bias, and brand risk, and assess reliability across industries and audiences.

Your Profile

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Marketing, Business, Communications, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in brand strategy, product marketing, strategy consulting, or integrated marketing strategy in an agency or in-house environment.
• Strong command of positioning and messaging, including value propositions, proof points, objections, narrative, and adapting tone.
• Demonstrated ability to develop customer insights by interpreting qualitative and quantitative research, creating personas or jobs-to-be-done frameworks, and applying segmentation.
• Strong strategic reasoning that turns ambiguous goals into a clear strategy, priorities, and measurable choices.
• Ability to assess and improve brand briefs, messaging hierarchies, campaign concepts, creative strategy, and go-to-market plans.
• Exceptional attention to weak logic, unsupported claims, tone misalignment, and risky assertions, with at least C1 English proficiency.
• A reliable, self-directed approach and the ability to maintain consistent quality across time zones in an hourly remote-contractor workflow.
• AI data training or annotation, editorial quality assurance, strategy operations, or content-review workflow experience is strongly preferred.
