Job Summary

SME Careers is seeking an R Engineer for a remote, hourly paid contract role. The engineer will review AI-generated responses and create high-quality content focused on R and data analysis, assessing the reasoning and step-by-step problem-solving behind each solution. The work includes checking accuracy, clarity, and prompt adherence; identifying errors in statistical methods or data-wrangling workflows; verifying analytical results; writing expert explanations and model solutions that use R correctly; and comparing AI responses for correctness and reasoning quality.

Important

There is no immediate project for this role; however, qualified engineers may be among the first people contacted when relevant opportunities arise and can gain access to future projects through the expert network.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed prompts and responses across varied subjects to support comprehensive AI learning.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve accuracy, fluency, and contextual relevance.
• Test models for possible inaccuracies and bias, and assess reliability across use cases.

Your Profile

• At least 2 years of hands-on experience using R in data analysis, statistics, or data-science work.
• Strong R programming ability, including data wrangling, functional-programming patterns, and reusable functions or packages.
• A solid grounding in applied statistics, including regression, inference, and model validation, with practical R implementation experience.
• Experience creating end-to-end R analyses that cover data cleaning, exploratory analysis, modelling, and visualisation.
• Familiarity with tidyverse, data.table, ggplot2, and choosing suitable tools for each task.
• Professional experience in a data-centred role such as data scientist, statistician, or quantitative analyst.
• At least a bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a closely related quantitative discipline.
• Significant experience using large language models to support R coding, analysis design, and code review.
• Excellent English writing skills, including the ability to document analyses and explain advanced statistical ideas to non-experts.
• At least C1 English proficiency is required, and AI data training or model-evaluation experience is strongly preferred.
