Job Summary

SME Careers is seeking a Fintech and Crypto Subject Matter Expert for an hourly, remote contractor role. The expert will review AI-generated material about fintech, payments, cryptocurrency, and Web3, create specialist content when needed, assess step-by-step reasoning, and provide precise written feedback. The work includes checking accuracy, clarity, safety, and prompt adherence; identifying errors in financial-product logic, payment flows, blockchain and crypto concepts, custody and key management, conceptual smart-contract risk, fraud and anti-money-laundering considerations, and regulatory or compliance awareness; verifying technical and market concepts; producing model solutions that demonstrate sound reasoning; and comparing responses for correctness and reasoning quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed prompts and gold-standard fintech or crypto explanations, scenario analyses, risk write-ups, and user guidance.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve correctness, clarity, safety, and practical value.
• Test outputs for inaccuracies, misleading certainty, unsafe financial guidance, and bias, and assess reliability across use cases.

Your Profile

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in fintech, payments, banking, crypto, or a related domain through product, operations, risk, compliance, research, engineering, or consulting work.
• Strong understanding of payment authorisation and settlement, chargebacks, fees, card networks, ACH, wires, and common failure modes.
• Strong knowledge of transaction lifecycles, high-level consensus, on-chain and off-chain activity, token mechanics, and common crypto or blockchain misconceptions.
• A solid risk mindset covering fraud, account takeover, social engineering, custody and key-management risk, and safety-first user guidance.
• High-level familiarity with KYC and AML, sanctions awareness, consumer protection, and disclosure practices relevant to fintech and crypto.
• Ability to assess units, timelines, fees, security assumptions, realistic constraints, and overall internal consistency.
• At least C1 English proficiency, with strong writing and the ability to explain complex subjects clearly.
• A reliable, self-directed approach and the ability to maintain consistent quality across time zones in an hourly remote-contractor workflow.
• AI data training or annotation, financial-content quality assurance, risk or compliance review, or technical writing is strongly preferred.
