Job Summary

SME Careers is seeking a Ruby Engineer for hourly paid, fully remote AI data training work. The engineer will review AI-generated Ruby and Rails code or create original solutions, assess reasoning and step-by-step problem-solving, and give expert feedback that helps models produce accurate, logical, and clearly explained answers. The work includes evaluating readability, maintainability, and correctness; finding problems in MVC structure, domain modelling, and control flow; checking facts; writing model solutions that demonstrate idiomatic Ruby; and comparing AI responses for correctness and reasoning quality.

The position offers flexible, detail-oriented remote contract work intended to improve leading AI models.

Important

There is no immediate project for this role; however, qualified engineers may be among the first people contacted when relevant opportunities arise and can gain access to future projects through the expert network.

Key Responsibilities

• Create detailed prompts and responses across varied topics to support comprehensive AI learning.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve accuracy, fluency, and contextual relevance.
• Test models for inaccuracies and bias, and assess their reliability across use cases.

Your Profile

• At least 1-2 years of professional Ruby programming experience in production environments.
• Strong knowledge of Ruby on Rails, MVC architecture, and idiomatic Ruby approaches to structuring application code.
• Hands-on software-engineering experience building and maintaining Ruby or Rails applications under real-world production constraints.
• Ability to evaluate readability, maintainability, and logical correctness in models, controllers, and service-layer design.
• Significant experience using large language models or AI coding assistants while programming, together with disciplined validation of their output.
• Excellent English writing skills for clear, structured, pedagogical technical explanations and code reviews.
• At least a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.
• At least C1 English proficiency and an extremely detail-oriented working style are required. AI data training, large-scale code review, or evaluation of AI-generated technical content is strongly preferred.
• Real-project experience with Ruby on Rails, Sinatra, and RSpec is highly preferred.
• Merged pull requests in Ruby open-source projects, experience with metaprogramming or test-heavy systems, and competitive-programming exposure are preferred.
