Lab-rearing officer at Menzies School of Health Research Timor-Leste Full Time on-site

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Dili for a Lab-rearing Officer at Menzies School of Health Research Timor-Leste. The Lab-rearing Officer will be responsible for overseeing operations in the rearing laboratory, including maintaining lab equipment, caring for and monitoring insect colonies, and ensuring the lab complies with safety and regulatory standards. The role involves monitoring and recording lab activities, training junior staff or assistants, and ensuring procedural and biosecurity protocols are strictly followed.

Qualifications

• Experience in laboratory procedures, equipment maintenance, and biosecurity practices
• Knowledge in entomology, biology, or related fields
• Strong organizational and data-recording skills
• Technical skills, including observation and sample collection
• Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
• Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team
• Proficiency in relevant software used for lab records or data management
• A bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred
